This is from the first of three tips I recently received in an email from Shama that focuses on Attracting Abundance. This tip is all about becoming what you desire, so that you can get more of what you want in your life.
When a situation arises, the action that you take in response to it, be it through thought, speech or physical expression, sends off specific vibrations into the universe, which attracts karmic particles towards you. If your soul is ‘moist’ due to ignorance about your true nature, then the karmic particles will stick to your soul, otherwise they will stay momentarily and then slide right off. When it’s time for that karma to shed, that’s when you’ll be faced with a new experience in your life.
Very simply put, an action you take with positive intention will bring about a pleasant experience in your life, and action you take with a negative intention will bring about a painful experience in your life. Your response to this situation determines the next karma you bind, and therefore what else you manifest in the future. Can you see the crazy vicious cycle we’re all caught up in? So how do we move ourselves away from helplessness, and become empowered to take charge of our destiny?
There are some spiritual masters who appear to manifest results almost instantly, whereas for most of us, if we plant the seeds now with our thoughts, spoken words, and physical expressions, then those very results will come up at their own natural time.
Ultimately, it’s best not to bind ANY new karma, because we’d want our soul to be liberated from this cycle of birth and rebirth, so that it can attain the state of abundant, infinite, eternal bliss. However, while we get better at figuring out how to attain that state of equanimity that keeps karma from being bound, it’s cool to focus on taking action from a place of friendship, appreciation and compassion.
“You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile.”
- Michael Jackson, Smile
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
- The Buddha
“No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.”
- Aesop
“Courage is not the lack of fear but the ability to face it.”

“I think the person who takes a job in order to live - that is to say, for the money - has turned himself into a slave.”
- Joseph Campbell
Whether you’re employed by someone else, or you’re working for yourself, the moment you stop expressing yourself through who you really are, the moment you stop being who you’re designed to be, just to please someone else, just to continue to be paid the salary, is when you’ve become a slave to money.
Don’t misunderstand - this doesn’t mean to rebel against everything, nor does it mean to constantly fluctuate your actions based on your shifting mood, or give in to your need for more and more, or your need to ‘feel important’, or your need to hide from the truth.
Look deep within yourself, and reveal each moment for what it really is. Say what needs to be said. Do what needs to be done. Purely, authentically, with consideration and determination. Embrace each moment with friendship to yourself and all those around you, notice the most positive defining qualities in your inner and outer environments, go easy when you or others make a mistake, and from that place of balance, focus and love, be who you are here to be.
Be the victor, be the master, not the slave.
“Peace is your very nature. Peace is your innate nature. It cannot go away from you.”
- Sri Sri Ravishankar, Art of Living
